Flying from New York to Seattle, my flight hit a seemingly intense patch of turbulent air. The plane was tossed back and forth violently, it was uncomfortable, fear-inducing, and caused a lot of stress among those on board the plane. I thought it was a good metaphor for the investing journey, which often has unexpected challenges, not the least of which is market volatility. Just like turbulence is normal to a flight, volatility is normal to stock markets.
